Last night I was lucky enough to have spent a fantastic evening in beautiful Elounda in Crete, watching the sky for shooting stars. Though we didn’t see as many as we would have liked great fun was had by all & it was a truly humbling experience, at the same time making us realise how small we are in relationship to the Universe & also how connected, as friends from around the world commented on this magical event.
The fun started with an app of all things, our Cretan host told us that in Elounda we should look towards the constellation of Perseus, a demi god-of Greek mythology, for the best views. I downloaded an app on to my iphone & we identified Perseus in the totally clear night sky & began our vigil.
This app was truly fantastic as when the constellation was recognised a ghostly outline of Perseus appeared over the stars. We left for our beds realising that we often spend too much time looking into ourselves, or just noticing our immediate experience. Perhaps we really need to look at the truly bigger picture & remember that everyone, and everything on our beautiful planet really is connected ….
Apparently tonight is another chance to see this relatively rare phenomenen, so again we will be looking to the stars ….. Quote : “Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them.”
